Field Service Cap

An example of the NZ Field service cap. These were introduced into wear by NZ servicemen in 1938. Made from drap-coloured worsted or serge fabric and has a fold down curtain and peak for use in cold weather. Was replaced by the General Service cap (GS cap) in Egypt and Italy in July 1944 but continued to be worn in the Pacific and New Zealand after this date.
